DEVOTED MAN Tragedy Strikes Totton: Beloved Family Man Nigel Key Murdered

Murder Shakes Quiet Totton Community

Totton is reeling after the shocking killing of 51-year-old Nigel Key. Police rushed to Matley Gardens on Thursday afternoon, October 16, following reports of a serious assault. Despite frantic attempts by emergency crews, Nigel was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 31-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to hospital for treatment. He has now been detained under the Mental Health Act as the investigation intensifies. Forensic teams spent two days scouring the property while police sealed off the area.

Neighbours Pay Heartfelt Tributes to ‘Devoted Family Man’

“Nigel was a devoted family man, loved by family and friends. He was always friendly, generous, neighbourly, and helpful to everyone. A skilled engineer respected by his peers. He will always be remembered.”

The tight-knit community described Nigel as the heartbeat of the neighbourhood. Neighbours recall his festive Christmas decorations and his warm welcome to Halloween trick-or-treaters. “He had a family dog and always stopped for a chat – a charming man spreading positivity everywhere,” said one local.

Engineering Pro Who Faced Recent Heartbreak

Nigel was a respected figure in construction and engineering. Alongside his late wife, Sheila Key, who tragically passed away just last week aged 56, he ran S&N Management Services. Nigel’s announcement of Sheila’s death revealed a family struggling with unimaginable loss.

Police Urge Public to Come Forward

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “Our investigation is ongoing. We urge anyone with information or concerns to contact our Neighbourhood Policing Team.”
