A devastating collision in Aldridge has left a teenager dead and three others injured. The incident occurred near Bosty Lane with Daw End, Aldridge, just before midnight on July 21.
According to reports, a car is believed to have collided with a tree, resulting in the tragic loss of a 17-year-old teenage boy. The collision was allegedly preceded by a brief pursuit, as traffic officers had reportedly seen the vehicle moments earlier.
Swift emergency response was initiated, with officers providing initial medical aid, including CPR, at the scene until the ambulance service arrived. Despite their efforts, the young teenager succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have informed the families of all those involved in the collision, and the family of the deceased teenager is being supported by Family Liaison Officers during this difficult time.
The investigation into the incident is currently in its early stages, and the Professional Standards Department (PSD) is assessing the matter. As per standard protocol, the incident will be referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) for further assessment.
Three others were injured in the collision, a 16-year-old boy, and two men aged 21 and 22. They were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the authorities will review in-car footage and body-worn video footage to piece together the events leading up to the collision. The scene has been sealed off to facilitate a thorough examination.
Superintendent Pervez Mohammed, a senior officer from Walsall Local Policing Area (LPA), expressed their deepest sympathies to the families of all those involved in the collision. He emphasised the importance of conducting a thorough investigation, given the presence of a police vehicle in the area at the time of the incident.
