Tragedy in Leicestershire as Police Launch Murder Probe

A woman has died after being found injured in the middle of a residential street in Littlethorpe, Leicestershire, on Sunday evening (11 May).

Police were called to Biddle Road where the victim was discovered with serious injuries. Despite efforts to help her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody as detectives carry out enquiries.

Police Seal Off Area and Appeal for Witnesses

The area has been cordoned off as crime scene investigators continue their work. Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage in a bid to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place in the coming days to establish the exact cause of death.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released, but her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

Police Statement: ‘Isolated Incident’

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Sinski, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Murder Investigation Team, said:

“I appreciate that the nature of the incident may cause some concern among residents in the area. However, I would like to reassure them that this is an isolated incident, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“Officers will remain at the scene as our investigation progresses.”

He added that police are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has video footage, including dashcam or doorbell cameras.

“It’s terrifying. This is a quiet street — you don’t expect this to happen here.”

Leicestershire Police have urged the public to remain calm and assured that extra patrols are being carried out in the area.
