Traffic Incidents Cause Road Closures and Delays in South London
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Marylebone

South London commuters faced disruptions and delays on Sunday morning due to two separate incidents, leading to road closures enforced by the Metropolitan Police.

In Tooting, the A214 Tooting Bec Road witnessed a closure in both directions between B242 Garrads Road and Doctor Johnson Avenue following a reported accident. The incident, which occurred around 2 am, advised motorists to seek alternative routes. The affected stretch of road is located adjacent to Tooting Common, a popular area for recreation and commuting.

Meanwhile, in Beckenham, the A2015 High Street was shut down in both directions between Albemarle Road (Beckenham Green) and Church Avenue (St George’s Church) due to an unspecified emergency services incident. Diversions were put in place for bus routes 54 and 354 to navigate around the affected area. The closure took effect from approximately 4:30 am, compounding the traffic woes for early morning commuters.

The closures of these key thoroughfares have led to significant traffic congestion and inconvenience for residents and motorists navigating through South London. The Metropolitan Police have yet to provide further details regarding the nature of the incidents or the expected duration of the road closures.

As commuters seek alternative routes and endure delays, local authorities advise staying updated with the latest traffic advisories and considering alternate modes of transportation where possible. Efforts are underway to manage the flow of traffic and alleviate the impact on the affected communities.
