Thunderstorm Weather Warning Issued for Kent, Sussex and Surrey
Residents across Kent, Sussex and Surrey are being urged to prepare for severe weather as the Met Office issues a yellow thunderstorm warning for Monday, 21 July.
The alert will be in effect from 11:00am to 9pm, with forecasts suggesting that 30 to 50mm of rain could fall within a couple of hours in isolated areas.
This warning follows closely behind an amber thunderstorm alert that was in place over the weekend, from 04:00 to 11:00 on Saturday, and a yellow alert until 21:00 the same day.
Safety Advice and Travel Disruptions Expected
The Met Office is advising people not to take shelter beneath trees during lightning activity and instead to seek safe, enclosed spaces such as vehicles or buildings.
Motorists are warned that driving conditions may be hazardous, with a risk of surface water flooding and spray reducing visibility. Public transport services could also be delayed or cancelled due to potential lightning strikes or localised flooding.
People living in flood-prone areas are encouraged to prepare an emergency flood kit and stay updated on local conditions.

While the yellow alert targets the South East, it also spans much of England and Scotland, affecting cities such as Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, and Newcastle.
