Officers were travelling along the A453 towards Clifton when a car sped past them – clocking over 90mph in the process.

It then proceeded to swerve all over the road and was driven through a red light at around 5.50pm on Saturday (1 July).

At this point, officers activated their blue lights and ordered the car to pull over.

After ignoring this command, the car continued to drive at speed – reaching 60mph in a 40mph zone.

The car eventually came to a stop in Clifton Boulevard, at which point police carried out a search of the vehicle.

Two knives were then discovered inside, along with large quantities of cash and multiple mobile phones.

Three men, all aged 21, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of criminal property.

One of the suspects was also arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop.

All three suspects have since been released on conditional bail.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The dangerous driving demonstrated during this incident put everyone else who was on the road at that time at risk.

“Thanks to the driving skills of our officers carrying out this pursuit however, we were able to safely pull the vehicle over without anyone coming to harm.

“This successful stop also led to us seizing two knives from inside the vehicle as well as substantial amounts of cash.

“Three suspects have been arrested in connection with this incident, but our inquiries are still ongoing, so we’d ask anyone with information to call the police on 101, quoting incident 23000405424.”
