Shooting in Dagenham
A 17-year-old boy was hospitalised following a shooting outside a block of flats on Braintree Road in Dagenham. Police received reports of gunfire and a large crowd at approximately 6.21pm on September 7.
Upon arrival, officers found the crowd had dispersed. Shortly after, a suspicious vehicle was spotted nearby, prompting a police pursuit to scotland/”>scotland/abercorn/”>Abercorn Gardens in Romford. During the chase, occupants of the vehicle discarded items, including two zombie knives, which were later recovered by police.
The vehicle was stopped again in Barley Lane, Ilford, where two 17-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons. All three remain in custody. The injured boy self-presented to hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Double Shooting in Brixton Hill
In a separate incident, a 27-year-old man was fatally shot in Brixton Hill. Police discovered him and another man, aged 20, injured on Forster Road at 8.50pm on September 8. Both were transported to hospital, but the 27-year-old succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of September 9.
His family has been notified and is receiving support from specialist officers. The 20-year-old’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and he remains in hospital.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee is spearheading the investigation. She stated, “My team are working at pace to establish the full circumstances that led to this man’s tragic death. Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this very difficult time. They continue to be supported by specialist officers.” A crime scene has been established, and residents can expect increased police patrols in the area as enquiries continue.
Authorities are urging anyone in the vicinity of New Park Road to review any doorbell or camera footage and share relevant information with the police.
