Man Arrested Over Suspicious Mosque Fire in Peacehaven – UKNIP

Detectives have arrested three more suspects in connection with the shocking arson attack at Peacehaven Mosque.

Flames Set at Mosque Front Door

Emergency services rushed to the Peacehaven Mosque on Phyllis Avenue at about 9.50pm on Saturday, 4 October. Witnesses reported two men spraying accelerant on the front door before setting it ablaze. Thankfully, although people were inside at the time, no one was injured.

New Arrests After Earlier Suspects Released

Early investigations by the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team saw four men accused. However, all were later released without charge. Following ongoing enquiries, including public appeals and a Crimestoppers reward, three men have now been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

  • 34-year-old from Peacehaven
  • 42-year-old from Peacehaven
  • 38-year-old from Seaford

All three remain in custody as inquiries continue.

Investigation Ongoing, Community Urged to Help

“This has been a rigorous, thorough investigation, recognising the significant distress the incident caused to the victims and wider community,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore of Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team.

“We are continuing to gather evidence and explore multiple lines of enquiry. Officers remain engaged with the community offering reassurance and support. Anyone affected, or with information, should contact police via 101, online, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
