Three Dutch nationals accused of the brutal murder of a young man and the false imprisonment of his mother are set to face trial in April, following a tragic incident that shook the community in Elephant and Castle, south London.
Riches Obi, 25, was discovered in a flat on November 17, 2020, with grievous slash and stab wounds to his chest. His mother, Bernadette Ortet, a legal executive, was found bound and gagged in a bedroom, highlighting the heinous nature of the crime.
The accused, Suvenca Martis, 33, Raichell Felomina, 39, and Jurick Croes, 38, all Dutch nationals, deny the charges of murder and false imprisonment. Martis, the only female among the suspects, faces an additional charge of perverting the course of justice.
The victim, Riches Obi, was a promising young man who had completed an apprenticeship with Porsche and was pursuing studies in sports science at university. His mother, Bernadette Ortet, worked as a caseworker for Obadiah Rose Solicitors, specializing in immigration and nationality cases.
The upcoming trial at the Old Bailey, scheduled for April 2, will delve into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Riches Obi and the events leading up to it. The accused, Martis, Felomina, and Croes, face serious charges that have deeply affected the community and left the family of the victim grappling with profound loss and sorrow.
As the trial approaches, the spotlight will undoubtedly be on the courtroom, where justice will be sought for the senseless loss of a young life and the anguish inflicted upon his loved ones.
