Three brothers have been sentenced for their roles in a violent confrontation that ended in the fatal stabbing of a man in a West Ealing pub courtyard, following a Specialist Crime Command investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

The incident, which occurred on 6 April 2024, resulted in the death of 39-year-old Mark Barrs, from Fulham, after he was stabbed during a disturbance outside The Old Hat pub on The Broadway.

Sentencing at the Old Bailey

The trio appeared at the Old Bailey on Tuesday (11 March) where they received the following sentences after entering guilty pleas:

• Cleveland McEntee, 40, of Henchman Street, Hammersmith, pleaded guilty to murder. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 23 years to be served.
• Leon Woods, 42, of Cherry Close, Ealing, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
• Tron McEntee, 35, of Jubilee Road, Perivale, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and received a 12-month prison sentence.

Deadly Violence Over a Minor Dispute

The court heard how a minor disagreement between Leon Woods and the victim, Mark Barrs, escalated dramatically after Woods called his two brothers to the scene.

Detectives established that the confrontation began inside the pub but soon spilled into the courtyard. Within minutes of the brothers’ arrival, the argument turned violent and Mark was stabbed in the chest. Despite the best efforts of London Ambulance Service paramedics, he tragically died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that Mark died from a single stab wound to the chest.

CCTV footage played a key role in the investigation, showing Cleveland McEntee holding a knife during the fatal altercation. After the stabbing, the three men were seen calmly walking away from the scene.

They were arrested on 10 April 2024 and charged the following day.

Police Condemn Knife Violence

Detective Chief Inspector Ollie Stride, who led the investigation, said:

“This case once again highlights how carrying a knife can quickly escalate to murder.
What started as an innocuous disagreement in a pub led to a man losing his life. It is shocking that a family has been left grieving due to this type of behaviour.
All three brothers now have to face the consequences of their actions with lengthy prison sentences.”
