Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead in Smethwick yesterday morning (Monday, 11 August).
The victim has been named as 41-year-old Shara Miller, who was discovered shortly after 6:10am off Woodbourn Road. Paramedics attended, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from West Midlands Police believe Shara was killed in the early hours at the location where she was found. Her family is being supported by specially trained officers.
Three men, aged 29, 38, and 31, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
Investigators are appealing for information about Shara’s movements before 1am on Monday, particularly if she was seen in the Soho Road area of Birmingham, where she was known to work. Police are urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Alastair Orencas said:
“We have made some significant progress in our investigation and now have three men in custody. However, we still want to hear from anyone who saw Shara or spoke to her in the hours leading up to her death.”
Increased police patrols have been deployed in Smethwick and along Soho Road to reassure the public while enquiries continue.
