Tragic Loss of ‘Sweet Boy,’ 17, in M4 Police Chase Remembered in Fundraiser

The three individuals who were arrested following a fatal road traffic collision (RTC) on the A419 at the junction with the M4 on Tuesday night (02/01) have been released from custody.

A man in his 20s, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, has been released on bail pending further investigation.

The two other occupants of the car, both women in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent. They have been released under investigation as authorities continue to gather information regarding the incident.

The tragic collision occurred shortly before 11 pm on Tuesday night when a Vauxhall Astra collided with the roundabout at the junction. Regrettably, one of the car’s occupants, believed to be a teenage male, lost their life at the scene due to the injuries sustained. Formal identification has not yet taken place.

In the aftermath of the RTC, authorities temporarily closed one lane of the M4 exit slip road and one lane of the A419 from the Commonhead roundabout to Junction 15. However, these lanes have now been reopened for normal traffic flow.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as law enforcement agencies work to determine the circumstances leading to the collision. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in their inquiries.

This incident serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving to prevent such tragic occurrences on our roadways.
