The fire destroyed the majority of the ground floor of a mid-terraced house. The fire also destroyed garden sheds and outbuildings belonging to two neighbouring properties. There were no reported injuries.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers responded to 34 calls about the fire.

The fire is believed to have started in the garden and spread into a house and two neighbouring properties,” said Station Commander Chris Jenner, who was on the scene.

The Fire Department was called at 12.57pm, and the fire was out by 2.07pm. Poplar, Shadwell, East Greenwich, Homerton, Bethnal Green, and Greenwich fire stations all responded.

The fire’s origin is being investigated.
