Thieves Steal from Basingstoke Church

Police are appealing for information after a lectern was stolen from a church near Basingstoke. The theft took place sometime between 6pm on Thursday, May 26 and 11am on Friday, May 27, at the St Mary the Virgin and St John the Baptist Church in Harts Lane, Newtown, on the Hampshire/Berkshire border. An unknown person forced open the main door and stole the brass lectern. The object is described as a brass lectern with an eagle book rest on a round column and bell-shaped base. It has been insured to the value of £10,000. A black and white picture of the lectern has been released. Have you seen this lectern recently? Do you know who was responsible for this theft?
