Terror suspect and raid carried out in South London

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command have today (23 May) arrested a 20-year-old woman for the offence of failing to disclose information about acts of terrorism, contrary to Section 38B of the Terrorism Act 2000. She was arrested at 8.05am in south London under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act. Firearms officers were not deployed. An address in south London is being searched. The woman is currently in custody at a south London police station. This activity is connected to the arrest of an 18-year-old man on Friday, 18 May, on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006. He remains in custody at a south London police station. His arrest took place in a street in north London and was carried out with the assistance of armed police. Enquiries continue.
