MURDER PROBE CONTINUES Teenagers Remain in Custody After Man Killed on Leysdown Beach

Three teenagers remain in police custody after a man in his 40s died from severe head injuries following an alleged assault on a popular beach in Warden Bay.

Kent Police were called to Warden Bay Road at around 7pm on Sunday, August 10, after reports of an altercation involving a small group of people.

A 16-year-old girl and two boys, aged 14 and 15, were arrested on suspicion of murder. Forensic teams, police dogs, and search officers have since been deployed at the scene, with a large section of the beach cordoned off opposite the Warden Bay Restaurant.

Concrete Slab Attack Claim

It’s  has reported that the victim may have been struck with a large concrete slab. An eyewitness said he saw the man being chased along the sea path before a woman began administering CPR. He added that a bystander told him she had seen a youth kick the victim in the head.

“It was obvious to me he was dead and that nobody was going to bring him back,” the witness said. “My 11-year-old son was with me — I tried to shield him as best I could and told him to cycle back to the caravan right away.”

Community Shock

Local residents and holidaymakers have expressed disbelief at the killing.

The incident has drawn comparisons to a 2013 murder on the same beach when caretaker David Evans, 34, was beaten to death by a gang of men.

Police Appeal

Detectives from Kent Police’s Major Crime Unit are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward via the Major Incident Public Portal or by calling 01622 652006 quoting reference 10-1384.
