Teenager Airlifted to Hospital After Felpham Machete Attack

A 17-year-old boy is in serious condition in hospital after being attacked with a machete in Felpham on Friday night.

Attack Near Felpham Way Field

Emergency services were called to a field off Felpham Way, near the Southdowns pub, at around 8:50pm on 16 May, following reports that a teenager had been seriously assaulted.

The boy, from Worthing, was discovered with a critical injury and was airlifted to hospital by air ambulance. He remains under specialist care.

Two Arrests Made

In a rapid response, Sussex Police launched an extensive search of the area and arrested two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17, both from Bognor Regis, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They remain in police custody as detectives continue their investigation.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Detectives are urgently appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the attack, has dashcam or mobile footage, or was in the area at the time to come forward.

“This was a shocking and violent assault that has left a teenager with life-altering injuries. We are working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances. We’re asking the public to help us by sharing any information or footage they may have.”

Knife Crime in Sussex

This incident is the latest in a troubling rise in youth knife violence across Sussex and the wider South East. Authorities are increasing patrols and outreach in hotspot areas, particularly in Bognor Regis and Worthing.
