Deadly Blaze in Henllys Way

A 75-year-old woman tragically died after a house fire ripped through her home in Henllys Way, St Dials, Cwmbran on Saturday night.

The emergency call came in around 8.40pm, sparking a major response from Gwent Police, South Wales Fire and Rescue, and the Welsh Ambulance Service.

Teen Charged with Arson

Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Police Speak Out

“We can confirm that a 75-year-old woman has died at the scene of the fire. Her family has been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers,” said Superintendent Laura Bartley.

“We understand this is distressing for the community but we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. Residents may see an increased police presence during the enquiries.”
