Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder After Woman Found Dead in Tamworth Home
A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 60-year-old woman in Dosthill, Tamworth, in the early hours of Monday, 23 June.
Warwickshire Police were called to a property on Ascot Drive shortly after 1:30am, where the woman was tragically found deceased inside the home. A 65-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Victim and Suspect Known to Each Other
Detective Sergeant Jenny Baker, from the force’s Major Investigations team, said:
“This is currently being treated as an isolated incident, and the victim and suspect were believed to be known to each other.”
Police have confirmed that the woman’s next of kin has been informed, and specially trained officers are providing them with support.
Scene Guard and Increased Patrols
A scene guard remains in place on Ascot Drive, and residents may notice an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as detectives continue their enquiries.
DS Baker added:
“Our thoughts are very much with the woman’s family, who are currently being supported by our specialist officers.”
