A man has been banned from the roads for three years after being caught drug driving.
On August 11 last year, Ryan Baverstock, 24, of Bowleymead, Eldene, was stopped on Groundwell Road, Swindon, by officers.
Baverstock failed a roadside drug wipe test and was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled Class B drug, namely cannabis, following a search.
He appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (13/02) and pleaded guilty to both offences.
He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and was further required to pay a £150 fine, £48 victim surcharge and court costs of £85.
PC Brewster of the Roads Policing Unit said: “I hope this disqualification serves as a lesson to Baverstock that you should never get behind the wheel of a vehicle while under the influence of drink or drugs.
“Drink and/or drug driving are one of the fatal five offences – which are the five offences most likely to contribute to a serious or fatal collision on our roads.
