A suspected van thief was quickly apprehended in Rochester on Thursday, October 10, 2024, following the swift actions of Kent Police.

At around 1 p.m., a delivery driver reported that her van, containing several parcels, had been stolen while parked in Invicta Drive. Police officers responded promptly and, after conducting an area search, located a man matching the suspect’s description just 30 minutes later on Knights Road.

The stolen van, with all parcels intact, was recovered nearby on Marley Road. Police dog Boris played a crucial role in the operation, successfully tracking down the victim’s mobile phone, which had been discarded in a nearby bush.

A 24-year-old man from Rochester was arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, driving while disqualified, and drug driving. He has since been bailed pending further investigations.

Kent Police continues its inquiries into the incident.
