Suspected Swale Shoplifter Charged as Police Clamp Down on Retail Crime

Kent Police’s ongoing crackdown on shoplifting has led to 22 charges being brought against a suspected offender in Swale.

Incident Details

  • Between December 2024 and early January 2025, multiple shoplifting offences were reported at Morrisons in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne.
  • Stolen items allegedly included meat, cheese, alcohol, household goods, and hygiene products.

Arrest and Charges

  • Following enquiries, neighbourhood officers arrested a suspect on Saturday, 11 January 2025, in Court Road, Sittingbourne.
  • Shelley Earnshaw, 31, was subsequently charged with:
    • Multiple theft offences
    • Breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order that prohibited her from entering the store
  • Ms. Earnshaw was remanded in custody and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 13 January.

Retail Crime Crackdown

Kent Police has been actively targeting persistent shoplifters as part of a wider initiative to tackle retail crime and support local businesses.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and have urged retailers to report suspicious activity to help combat theft and protect businesses in the area.
