Suspected Drug Dealer Arrested Following Pursuit in Medway

A 20-year-old man from Strood has been arrested on suspicion of drug dealing after an early morning police pursuit in Gillingham. The incident occurred around 1:30 am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, when officers noticed a motorcycle parked on the pavement along Gillingham Gate Road.

After officers approached to check on the motorcyclist’s welfare, the suspect immediately rode off. A brief pursuit ensued, during which the rider is reported to have taken a pathway into Purser Way, where he collided with a bollard and a police vehicle.

Upon detaining the man, officers discovered £515 in cash and quantities of cannabis and suspected cocaine. The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug dealing, driving while unfit through drugs, dangerous driving, and failing to stop for an officer.

The suspect has been released on bail as further investigations into the circumstances continue.
