Suspect charged with violent assault on staff at Maidstone petrol garage

A suspect has been tracked down and charged following a violent assault on a member of staff at a petrol station in Maidstone earlier this year.

The assault happened at a BP garage in London Road, Allington on 30 March 2023, when it is reported the victim suffered a fractured eye socket after he was repeatedly punched by a customer.

An investigation by Maidstone CID officers led to the identification of a suspect, who on 20 December was located and arrested at an address where he was living in Coldharbour Lane, Aylesford.

Patrick O’Donoghue, 23, was taken into custody and later charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was further charged with offences carried out on 20 December – those of possessing an offensive weapon (a knuckle duster), driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.

The suspect was remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 22 December.
