Suspect Arrested in Connection with Alleged Rape in Maidstone

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an allegation of rape in Maidstone.

The incident is reported to have taken place on the evening of Monday, 2 September 2024, near the Lockmeadow leisure complex. A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unknown man, who then fled the scene on foot, heading toward the Millennium Bridge.

Following an investigation by Kent Police, the suspect was arrested at 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, 4 September. He is currently in custody and being questioned on suspicion of rape.

Officers are continuing to appeal to the public for any information that may aid their investigation.
