Suspect Arrested After Violent Assault in Brighton

St James’s Street in Brighton was closed on Saturday evening, with bus services diverted following a serious assault. Sussex Police confirmed that a man was arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on Saturday, 21st September.

 

 

Police stated, “A man has been arrested in connection with an assault in St James’s Street, Brighton, this evening (Saturday 21 September). Police were called to the incident around 6:27 pm, and a man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where he remains at this time.”

The suspect was arrested “on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with wounding, and is in custody.”

The street remained closed for much of the evening while investigations took place, causing significant disruption, including bus diversions. Sussex Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information to assist with the investigation.
