Holidaymakers were left furious today after a serious IT failure at London Stansted Airport caused widespread travel disruption, grounding flights and triggering airport-wide delays.
While the technical glitch has now been resolved, airlines and ground services continue to suffer the knock-on effects, with passengers warned to check flight statuses before travelling.
“Our teams are working hard to fully restore operations,” a Stansted spokesperson said. “While the issue has been resolved, some flights may still be subject to delays.”
‘Holiday F***’: Furious Passengers Vent as Trips Ruined**
Angry flyers took to social media this morning, posting photos of shoulder-to-shoulder queues and sharing their frustration at the lack of information.
One furious traveller fumed:
“Stood for 90 minutes so far between getting bag tags and waiting to put my bag on the belt. No movement. Flight leaves in 30 minutes. Holiday f*****.”
Another gave up entirely, tweeting:
“Holiday off to a great start… gave up. Stansted in meltdown. Came home and booked an easyJet flight from Gatwick later.”

At around 8am on 11 May, the IT systems supporting check-in and baggage services reportedly suffered a critical failure, halting operations. Though fixed, the disruption has cascaded throughout the day with delays and rebookings ongoing.
Photos circulating on X (formerly Twitter) show jam-packed departure halls, with staff reportedly overwhelmed by the backlog.
“Total chaos at Stansted Airport. IT outage and everything completely stuck!” one user posted.
