Sixty Firefighters Battle Grass Fire in Rainham

Around 60 firefighters and eight fire engines are currently tackling a large grass fire near Stanhope Road in Rainham. The fire broke out this afternoon, and crews from Barking, East Ham, Harold Hill, and nearby stations are on the scene working to control the blaze.

Local residents are being advised to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution due to the heavy smoke travelling through the area.

The London Fire Brigade was called to the incident at around 3pm on Thursday 19th September 2024, and efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.
