Two Men Charged with Murder After Fatal Town Centre Incident in Sittingbourne

Detectives have charged two men with murder following the death of a man in his 30s in Sittingbourne town centre.

Kent Police were called to St Michael’s Road, near the junction with Dover Street, shortly after 9.30pm on Saturday 2 August 2025, following reports of a serious incident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

It is believed the victim had been chased and fell from a wall before colliding with a car. Emergency services attended, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Two Suspects in Custody

Following a fast-moving investigation, officers arrested two suspects – one on Monday 4 August and another on Wednesday 6 August. During related searches, police also seized a quantity of cocaine.

On Thursday 7 August, Jack Hunt, 33, of Platinum Way, Borden, and Chris McClean, 43, of Pembury Court, Sittingbourne, were charged with murder.

In addition, Mr McClean faces a separate charge of possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Court Appearances

Mr Hunt was remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court, while Mr McClean was remanded to Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court. Both men are due to appear in court today, Thursday 7 August.

Kent Police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, with detectives continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist the inquiry.
