Police in Shoreditch are continuing their investigation after two people were injured by crossbow bolts, sparking concern in the community.

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, overseeing policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, expressed awareness of the community’s apprehension following the disturbing incidents. He highlighted the immediate and comprehensive police response, which includes extensive CCTV trawls, intelligence gathering, and forensic analysis. Neighbourhood teams have also been actively engaged in public appeals and reassurance patrols, with robust support from partners, notably the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Conway emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation and assured the public of an enhanced police presence in the area. He extended gratitude to local residents for their valuable support. He urged anyone with pertinent information to come forward promptly, underscoring the accessibility of officers for those willing to provide information.

The first assault occurred around 19:45hrs on Monday, 4 March, near Clifton House, E2, where a 44-year-old woman was struck in the head while crossing the road. The second incident unfolded on Thursday, 14 March, at 19:27hrs, approximately 200 feet away by Arnold Circus, E2, involving a 20-year-old man who sustained a neck injury.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained by both victims were not deemed life-threatening or life-changing, and they have since been discharged from the hospital.

In a recent development, a 47-year-old man arrested in connection with the investigation has been released under investigation.
