In a surprising move, Pontins Holidays has announced the immediate closure of its popular Camber Sands holiday park, situated near the Kent border in Rye. This decision also affects the Prestatyn site in Wales, which will also be shutting down.
A spokesperson for Pontins released a statement, saying, “We regret to inform you that our parks in Prestatyn and Camber Sands will be closing with immediate effect. Customers whose bookings will be affected by these closures will be contacted by our team and refunded. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
The sudden closure announcement has sparked mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing sadness over the closure and others questioning the decision.
As of now, the reason for the closure has not been disclosed by the company.
Pontins Camber Sands, a budget seaside holiday park that has catered to thousands of families annually, has been in operation since 1968. Covering 32 acres, it boasts 820 self-catering chalets and can accommodate around 3,000 guests in total.
Despite its long history and popularity, recent reviews on TripAdvisor have been far from positive, with the park receiving just a two-star rating. Some guests have criticized the cleanliness of the accommodations, the quality of the food, and the overall experience.
