Serving Metropolitan Police Officer Dismissed Following Misconduct Hearing

A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing that found he had engaged in discreditable conduct.

Misconduct Findings

  • PC Hywel Williams, a student officer attached to the Central South Command Unit, was found to have breached professional standards after being accused of unwanted sexual touching of a colleague while off-duty in May 2022.
  • Eight additional allegations against him were found not proven.

Police Response

Following the conclusion of the hearing on Friday, 10 January, Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh stated:

“The misconduct hearing found that PC Williams had behaved in a way that is not compatible with being a serving police officer, and it is only right that he has been dismissed.

“Officers are placed in a position of trust. We, and the public, expect them to adhere to this, and where any behaviour falls below this level, action will be taken to remove them from the Met.”

Barred from Policing

  • PC Williams will now be placed on the barred list held by the College of Policing.
  • Those on the list cannot be employed by the police, local policing bodies (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).

The Metropolitan Police continues to uphold its commitment to professional standards and taking action against misconduct within its ranks.
