Authorities in Wakefield are investigating a serious road traffic collision that occurred on the A1 near Darrington, Pontefract, yesterday evening. The incident, which took place shortly after 7pm on April 13, involved a minibus overturning on the northbound carriageway near junction 40.
According to reports, the collision involved a black Skoda Fabia and an Iris single-decker minibus. Initial investigations suggest that a third vehicle, a white car, was also involved but has not yet been identified.
Emergency services responded to multiple calls reporting the incident. A total of 17 individuals were injured in the collision and were transported to the hospital for treatment. Among them, seven are believed to have sustained serious injuries.
The Wakefield Police Roads Policing Unit is currently conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather more information about the sequence of events leading to the crash.
