A prolific shoplifter, John Harris, also known as John Harris Bolton, has been jailed again after stealing nearly £3,000 worth of goods from Boots in Greenwich, just months after being released from prison.
Harris, 38, had previously been sentenced to 37 weeks in jail in April for a string of thefts from a BP store in Greenwich. During that sentence, he was convicted of 39 counts of theft and banned from entering any BP store in southeast London. However, Harris resumed his criminal activities after his release, this time targeting Boots.
Between August 11 and September 13, Harris stole £2,837 worth of products from the Greenwich Boots store. In one instance, he made off with £997 worth of skin and hair care products, and on another occasion, he stole £100 worth of baby milk.
Harris appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on September 18, where he pleaded guilty to eight theft charges from the shop. He was subsequently sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
His previous offences involved stealing over £6,000 worth of goods from a BP store in Greenwich, including meat, alcohol, and other items. Despite being arrested in February and charged, Harris continued to steal even while out on bail.
The court’s latest decision has led to Harris returning to prison, where he will now serve an additional 16-week sentence.
