A 15-year-old schoolgirl and a 67-year-old woman have tragically died in a house fire in Bletchley, near Milton Keynes. The victims, including teenager Ann Eyre, were pronounced dead at the scene of the blaze, which erupted shortly after 12:10pm on Friday, 30 May, on St Patrick’s Way.

Thames Valley Police have launched an investigation, confirming that the circumstances of the fire are currently being treated as “unexplained.”

‘Loud screams’ heard as neighbours rushed to help

The tragic fire sent shockwaves through the local community. Gabriel, a neighbour who lives next door to the property, recalled the chilling moment the inferno broke out.

“There were loud screams, and I heard someone shouting, ‘break the door,’” he told the BBC, describing the scene as “unimaginable.”

Fire crews reportedly arrived within 10 minutes of the emergency call. Despite their swift response, the two victims could not be saved.

Victim Named as Ann Eyre

Thames Valley Police confirmed that while formal identification has not yet taken place, the young victim has been named as Ann Eyre, a local schoolgirl from Bletchley.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims of this tragic fire,” a police spokesperson said.

“We’d ask people to respect her family’s privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”

The 67-year-old woman who also perished in the blaze has not yet been publicly named.

Investigation Underway: Deaths Treated as ‘Unexplained’

Police and fire investigators remain at the scene. The cause of the fire remains unclear, and officers are appealing for information.

“We are working closely with Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service to determine what happened,” the police statement continued.

No arrests have been made, and officers are urging anyone with information or video footage to come forward.

Community Grieves Over ‘Lovely’ Family

Neighbours described the household as “easy-going, calm, and lovely.” The loss has devastated the quiet Milton Keynes suburb.

Social media tributes to Ann Eyre have begun to pour in. One user wrote:

“Absolutely heartbreaking. A young life gone far too soon. RIP Ann.”
