Tragedy on Tracks: Person Dies at Romford Station Following Elizabeth Line Incident

A person has sadly died on the tracks at Romford railway station, prompting an emergency response and travel disruption on the Elizabeth Line.

British Transport Police confirmed they were called to the station at approximately 1.20pm on Saturday, 27 July, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.


Incident Not Treated as Suspicious

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said:

“Officers were called to Romford railway station at around 1.20pm yesterday (27 July) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. It is expected the coroner will formally confirm details in due course.


Travel Disruption

Following the incident, Elizabeth Line services were suspended through Romford station for several hours, with passengers advised to seek alternative routes. Full service has since resumed.
