Robbery suspect arrested in Gravesend
Officers investigating a burglary which took place as part of a suspected cold calling scam in Gosport have now charged a man

Neighbourhood officers have arrested a man suspected of a robbery in Gravesend. On Wednesday 13 December 2023, a man in his 60s was in Berkley Crescent when he stopped to check on the welfare of a person. He was then reportedly threatened and assaulted by a man he did not know.

It is alleged the suspect then accompanied the victim to an ATM where a quantity of cash was withdrawn and stolen. An investigation was commenced and on Thursday 4 January 2024, an officer was on patrol in King Street where he spotted a suspect and detained him.

Aaron Fontaine, of The Hill, Northfleet was later charged by detectives from North Kent CID with robbery. The 40-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 6 January. He was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on 5 February.
