Roads Closed and Homes Evacuated as Firefighters Tackle Blaze in Bedford

Firefighters are currently battling a house fire in Bedford, leading to multiple road closures and the evacuation of nearby homes. The incident has caused significant disruption, with the Kimbolton Road and Wentworth Drive junction with Cleat Hill, as well as the junction at Bedford Road and Graze Hill, being cordoned off as emergency services work to contain the blaze.

Residents in the area reported feeling a shock wave followed by a loud bang at approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning (Saturday). Authorities have since evacuated some homes as a precaution while the situation is assessed.

Bedfordshire Police issued a statement: “Some neighbouring houses are in the process of being evacuated, and there are road closures in place, which include the Kimbolton Road/Wentworth Drive junction with Cleat Hill and the junction at Bedford Road and Graze Hill. We are asking people to avoid the area and for motorists to find alternative routes.”

Emergency services are urging residents to stay clear of the area to allow firefighters to work safely.
