Darrel, one of the station’s Launch Authorities, quickly approved the deployment of the D-Class Inshore lifeboat (ILB). The crew was promptly alerted and the ILB launched, making rapid progress to the location of the casualties. The two individuals were found separately: one was on the lighthouse, while the other was on the beach.

The crew fitted life jackets on both individuals and successfully brought them back to the lifeboat station. Thankfully, neither of the casualties sustained injuries and expressed their gratitude for the prompt rescue.

Eastbourne RNLI advises all coastal visitors to check tide times to avoid similar situations. In the event of being cut off by the tide, it is recommended to stay out of the water and call for help immediately.
