Recycling Site Fire in Sittingbourne Brought Under Control
A large fire broke out at a recycling site in Gas Road, Sittingbourne, late on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene at 11:08 pm and deployed seven fire engines along with a height vehicle to tackle the blaze.

Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus and using a positive-pressure ventilation fan, worked swiftly to extinguish the flames. The fire was brought under control by 1:32 am on Sunday, September 15, 2024.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, early indications suggest that it may have started in machinery on the site.

The Kent Fire and Rescue Service is continuing to monitor the area, and more details may be released as investigations progress.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any unusual activity in the vicinity.
