South East Rail Chaos Hits Commuters Hard – UKNIP

Rail passengers in the england/south-east/”>england/south-east/”>South East have been plunged into chaos today after two shocking incidents brought major routes to a grinding halt. The disruptions have caused widespread misery for thousands trying to travel across the region.

Trains Stop After Two People Struck By Trains

The nightmare Beganbegan early this morning when a person was hit by a train near Luton. This forced the Thameslink line to shut down, causing severe delays to northbound services.

Before 11am, disaster struck again at bridges/”>bridges/”>Three Bridges station. Another person was struck by a train, halting all services between heath/”>heath/”>heath/”>Haywards Heath and Gatwick Airport.

Gatwick Station Evacuated Amid Overcrowding

With no trains coming or going, Gatwick Airport’s train station was forced to close and evacuate due to severe overcrowding. The airport said:

“Gatwick Airport train station has been evacuated due to overcrowding.”

Thousands of travellers were left stranded, scrambling to catch flights or meet arrivals. The chaos spilled onto the roads, causing heavy jams on the M23 spur road leading to Gatwick.

Rail Recovery Slow — More Delays Expected

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), which runs Southern and Thameslink trains, is working to get services back on track. While some lines should reopen soon, Three Bridges station will stay closed today.

GTR warned delays and cancellations will continue all day due to displaced crews and trains. Commuters are urged to expect disruption on Southern and Thameslink services for the foreseeable future.
