The bridge was temporarily closed to traffic to allow emergency services to engage with the individual and manage the situation safely.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man on the QEII bridge, at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday 25 June. Officers attended alongside Highways and ambulance service colleagues and engaged with the man concerned. The bridge was closed to traffic while this work took place. The man was brought to safety by 8:55 pm and left in the care of the ambulance service. We would thank the public for their patience and understanding while this incident was dealt with.”

The man was safely brought down from the bridge by 8:55 pm and was subsequently taken into the care of the ambulance service.

The closure of the bridge caused some traffic delays, but the swift action of the emergency services ensured the safety of the individual involved.
