A 47-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman in her 60s suffered a serious head injury in Chatsworth Avenue, Cosham.
Incident Details
Police were called to Morrisons Daily on Chatsworth Avenue at approximately 4:25 pm on Tuesday, February 25, following a report of an assault at a nearby property on the same road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the injured woman, who was subsequently rushed to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service. While her injuries are serious, police have confirmed they are not believed to be life-threatening.
Suspect Arrested
A 47-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary stated:
“We were called at 4:25 pm yesterday afternoon to Morrisons Daily on Chatsworth Avenue, with reports that a woman in her 60s had been seriously assaulted at an address on the same road.”
“Officers and colleagues from South Central Ambulance Service attended, and the woman was taken to hospital with a serious, but non-life-threatening, injury to her head.
