Detectives in Coatbridge are appealing for information following the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on Friday evening. The incident occurred in a wooded area behind Miller Street at approximately 8pm on September 20, 2024.
According to police reports, the victim was attacked by an unknown male suspect in a secluded area near a relatively busy part of town. The perpetrator is described as being approximately 6 feet tall and was notably wearing red Adidas Gazelle trainers at the time of the assault.
Detective Sergeant Alan Gardner, who is leading the investigation, highlighted the seriousness of the crime and its traumatic impact on the victim. This was an extremely traumatic ordeal for the victim, and it is vital that we identify and trace the man responsible,” he said.
Officers are conducting extensive enquiries to gather more information about the suspect and the incident. Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Miller Street around 8 p.m. on the night of the attack.
DS Gardner added, “This happened close to a relatively busy area, and we are asking anyone who saw a man matching this description, or anything that seemed suspicious, to please get in touch.
