Detectives from Police Scotland are appealing to the public for information after a violent assault occurred in the heart of Glasgow. The incident took place around 12:30pm on Friday, April 12, 2024, near the intersection of Union Street and Gordon Street.
According to preliminary investigations, a 28-year-old man was viciously attacked by a group of approximately eight males who were present in the area at the time. The victim sustained head and back injuries during the assault and was promptly transported to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for medical attention.

Despite the severity of the incident, authorities currently lack specific details about the assailants. However, it has been noted that they were clad in dark-coloured clothing. Detectives are actively working to piece together the events leading up to the assault and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
Detective Constable Matthew McCann, who is leading the investigation, stated, “This group was present on Union Street before the assault. We appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity at that time to come forward. Additionally, we encourage motorists with dash cam equipment to review their footage, as it may contain crucial images that could aid our investigation.”
