Police Respond to Stabbing and Gunshot Reports in Dagenham

In a distressing incident unfolding on Whalebone Lane South, Dagenham, the Metropolitan Police swiftly responded to reports of both a stabbing and gunfire. The alarming sequence of events prompted a rapid deployment of officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) to the scene.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered a 19-year-old man suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Meanwhile, investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently underway.

A spokesperson from the Met Police said:

“Police were called to Whalebone Lane South, Dagenham at about 5.19pm on Thursday, 2 May following reports that a man has been stabbed. Shortly after, a second call was received by a member of the public reporting gunshots in the area. Officers and LAS attended and found a man, aged 19, with stab injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains. His condition has been assessed as life-threatening. His next of kin has been informed. A man was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident. He was taken into custody where he remains.”

At present, a designated crime scene has been established at the location as inquiries continue to gather crucial information. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information pertaining to the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
