On September 20, 2023, at approximately 2.30pm, emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing in Jubilee Country Park, near Tent Peg Lane in Petts Wood. Despite the best efforts of police and air ambulance personnel, Max tragically died at the scene.
One year later, police have renewed their appeal for information, urging anyone with details about the events leading up to Max’s death to come forward. Detective Inspector Adam Guttridge, leading the investigation, stated, “It has been a challenging year, and we are still seeking crucial information about the events that led to this young man’s death. We want to provide answers to Max’s family and ensure justice is served.”
DI Guttridge emphasized that no piece of information is too small and encouraged those who may have been in Jubilee Park at the time of the incident and have not yet spoken to the police to come forward.
In a heartfelt plea, Max’s sister described him as a “kind boy” and a “peacemaker” who loved music and spending time with family and friends. She expressed her family’s anguish, saying, “We are stuck in a constant state of despair, knowing that whoever is responsible for Max’s murder has not been brought to justice.
She appealed directly to the public, asking them to think back to September 20, 2023, and come forward with any information that might help the family find closure. “There are people out there who know what happened to my brother that day,” she said, urging witnesses to do the right thing.
Despite two arrests earlier in the investigation, the case remains unsolved. Police have now set up a dedicated online portal for information and image uploads related to the case.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigation team on 020 7175 2206 or call police via 101, quoting reference CAD 3972/20Sep2023. To remain anonymous, individuals can contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are hopeful that with renewed public assistance, justice for Max and his family will soon be achieved.
