Authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a man wanted in connection with an alleged rape incident in Soho, W1. Michael Lawson, 55, is being sought by police in relation to the offence that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 17 June.
According to reports, a lone female had been in the Soho area with friends before the incident took place. Shortly after leaving her companions, she was subjected to a distressing assault. Investigators have released an image of Lawson and are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to his whereabouts.
Lawson is described as a black male, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, with a medium stocky build. He also has a distinctive scar under his left eye. Authorities are aware that Lawson may be known by a different name, adding to the complexity of the investigation.
The suspect is known to frequent the Soho area and may have access to a vehicle, with the possibility of presenting himself as an unlicensed cab driver. The police have advised members of the public not to approach Lawson if spotted but instead to call emergency services immediately by dialling 999.
Detective Inspector Luke Bacon, who leads the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences investigation unit, emphasised the importance of gathering any information related to the case. He urged witnesses to come forward, no matter how seemingly insignificant the detail may be, as it could prove vital in locating Lawson and securing justice for the victim.
