Police Release Image After Man Strangled at Bank Underground Station
An investigation has been launched after a man in his 50s was strangled and left unconscious during a violent assault at Bank Underground Station.
The incident occurred at around 3:10pm on Monday 30 June, when the victim was walking toward the Central Line escalators. He was approached by another man who began swearing at him without provocation.
A verbal altercation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation at the base of the escalators, where the suspect placed the victim into a headlock. The victim reportedly lost consciousness during the struggle, and the suspect fled the scene, boarding a Central Line train moments later.
The British Transport Police have now released an image of a man they believe may have vital information that could assist their enquiries.
Officers are urging anyone who recognises the individual or who witnessed the incident to come forward. Information can be reported by texting 61016 with the reference 391 of 30 June.
