British Transport Police (BTP) have released CCTV images of three men they wish to identify after a sentimental wedding ring was stolen from a man on a Central line Tube train earlier this month.
The robbery occurred at around 3:55am on February 9, as the victim waited on a train at Oxford Circus station. Four men reportedly targeted the victim, grabbing a gold necklace from his neck just as the train doors were closing. Attached to the chain was a gold wedding ring, which the victim described as having “huge sentimental value.”
The stolen ring had the name “Finola” and the date “2.9.89” engraved on the inside, further highlighting its personal significance.
A 24-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of robbery, but detectives are still seeking to identify three additional men who may hold crucial information about the incident.
British Transport Police have appealed to the public for help. In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We are releasing CCTV images of three men we would like to speak to in connection with this robbery. The theft of this wedding ring has caused great distress to the victim due to its sentimental value. We urge anyone who recognizes the individuals in the images or has any information about the incident to come forward.”
